Guestbook of Alpha & Beta
October 2010
This fifth stay in Crete invites us to prepare the sixth! But as Diogen said to his "pain in the neck dictator" who had asked him the distance between the earth and the sun: "Get out of my sun" we will rather come back in September. Thanks for your welcome and carry on as such – it's the right way.
Martial & Nicole
Thanks to Martial and Nicole (above) we have discovered your "Cretan Home". The stay has been fine in spite of rather mixed weather. We have recorded the ease with which you have contributed to make our stay as relaxing as possible and the warm welcome upon our arrival. To cut a long story short – we have benefited from many elements, all as positive as each other. Thanks a lot.

Stay very pleasant overall. It's a great experience, the landscape is marvellous and varied. The fact that the two villas in which we stayed are semi-detached enabled us to share many enjoyable moments with our friends. The beaches and the sea are lovely, the sea nice and warm and the climat most agreeable. The swimming pool down in the front of the villas enabled us to make the most of the climat and the temperature. Taverns and restaurants are heavenly and the food excellent - not fogetting the local specialities. Tourists are most warmly welcomed by the inhabitants. We have all appreciated the beach at Plakias.

We have spent three exceptional weeks, beautiful weather and marvellous landscapes. We hope to be able to return there and take advantage of all those beaches, each one more beautiful than the others.
Fabienne
Wonderful landscapes, exceptional climat, heavenly beaches with crystal clear water at 30° celsius. Crete is undoubtedly a little paradise! The inhabitants are very congenial and were delighted to introduce us to the local succulent gastronomic specialities. Long live Crete, long live Alpha and Beta.
Pascal
Congenial welcome and stay – perfect. The villa is fine with a wonderful view and fabulous scenery. The "local guide" devised by Pierre and Beatrice (restaurants, sites, etc.) is tip top for presentation and contents. I can confirm an extraordinary address for meals – the Tavern of Myrthios who serves amazing dishes! And the Raki is divine. See you again aboard this vessel one day!

We have loved the landscape and appreciated the beach at Amoundi and it's restaurant hidden behind the palm trees. Of our best souvenirs we give a special mention to the rocky creeks and their turquoise streams. The swimming pool was much appreciated during many very hot hours – delightful.

The sitting is wonderful. All is said on our very agreeable stay!

We have just spent two memorable weeks. Your two little villas, most congenial, idealy situated to discover what is the best in Crete: the Samaria and Imbros gorges (not forgetting the beautiful but less known Rouvas gorge), beaches galore – all equally splendid, typical villages (Sellia, Zaros, Agios Pavlos,…) and of course the taverns and Greek gastronomy have contributed to the charm of the area. Not forgetting Ouzo and Raki! Yamas!! We want more again!!

Welcome and organization perfect: the only missing item is a switch to regulate the wind. We recommend (further to the excellent guide in the villa) the Palm Beach at Peveli to discover a tropical jungle, two little creeks just before Souda and appreciate the calm atmosphere and snorkeling not forgetting the welcome by Dive2gether. We did not hesitate to go as far as Hora Sfakion and Loutro… worth seeing.

We have spent a wonderful vacation in Crete. The Creatans are very friendly and generous. The island is splendid, the sun always present. The accomodation is fine, bright with an exceptional view. Further to that we wish to thank the proprietors for having well choosen our neighbours – very congenial with two charming children. A very enjoyable stay.

Dear Beatrice and Pierre, We will not forget our stay in your little paradise. The villa, the picturesque village, the view. Everything is tip top, not forgetting that you were hand and foot at our disposal. Thanks to you, we discovered the good little restaurants, heavenly beaches and excursions one must not miss with the children. Furtherto our memorable stay and your hearty welcome, we were delighted to have met you and hope to meet up again in Paris. We will come back. It's certain!!! Thanks for everything.

This is paradise, a splendid area where there is a combination of fragrances, odours and savours. Our neighbours (the proprietors) are most congenial and always ready to help. A cosy house, backed on the hillside – pleasure at it's best.

Like a dream! Beautiful weather, sky, sun, sea, mountains – all were present for us. We spend a hilarious week ending by celebrating Bea's birthday – memorable day. Many thanks to you Bea and Pierre for your successful enterprise. Nothing more to add! Yes, bravo, all is perfect. Good health, good luck, all the best and who knows… we may meet here again or elsewhere.
Myriam & Jacques
What else could we say? We leave our eyes full of the marvelous view, an agreeable stay and the Cretans and Crete most welcoming – not forgetting Pierre and Bea.

Nearby a very pleasant seaside resort, well situated to explore the middle of the Island, the accommodation is comfortable and bright. The proprietors are very attentive and do all they can to make our stay most agreeable. The view is wonderful… and we were really taken by the beach at Shinaria.
Catherine
A great base camp to explore this beautiful region. Like our neighbours, we were really taken by the Shinaria beach.

The map of "Mariou Island" was very easy to follow and we are reached the "pontoon" in the middle of the night. The "steamship" was solidly moored and we light-heartedly embarked aboard. The cruise was very enjoyable due to the fact that the crew had done everything possible to avoid the contrary, even if a stow-away called Aeolus butted in. We were fortunately under the protection of Posseï don. Many thanks for everything, and upon our return home we will throw a bottle into the sea to invite you and so make acquaintance.
