The two twin-houses (Alpha & Beta) are on a terrace site with pool and a cosy garden. They are situated in the village of Mariou just 3.5 km north-east of Plakias and 30 km south of Rethymnon on the south coast of Crete.
Alpha & Beta are just 300m from the village of Mariou where we will find a tavern and a mini market and five minutes away from the main beach of Plakias and six other beaches of nearby villages.

The village of Mariou overlooking the bays of Plakias and Damnoni with it's whitewashed houses is really how you imagine Crete.

Facing the sea you have a marvellous view of the coast and the sunset on the sea of Libya.

At Plakias, young generations will easily converse with you either in English, French or German. You will find in town all sorts of commerce: supermarkets, restaurants, tea-rooms, bars, discotheque, but also of course car and cycle rentals, souvenir shops, Post Office and naturally Doctors and Chemist.

Each house has been tastefully furnished and well equiped. They each have an open-plan kitchen, dining lounge with doors opening out to a pergola covered terrace. A few steps down lead to the pool (lit up at night), the patio and garden. Each house has two bedrooms. One with a double bed and a chest of drawers. The other has two single beds and a wardrobe. A folding bed for a baby is available if necessary.

A sofa-bed (140 cm) in the living-room can accommodate two adults. The living-room and the two bedrooms are air-conditioned. Each bathroomhas a shower, a washbasin and toilet. Outside, you will find: table, chairs, sun-beds and barbecue.

Air conditioning, heating in the off season, washing machine, dishwasher, cooking surface, oven, micro-wave, fridge with deepfreeze section plus flat screen TV,CD/DVD/DviX player, for your pleasure when you are not on the beach or in the pool and garden.
You will also find all necessary crockery for your meals. This does not mean that you will not appreciate local cuisine in the numerous Tavernas.

Numerous beaches, angling, scuba diving, touristic sites, monastrys, treking, cycling, nautical sports, etc. All of these activities are just round the corner of Alpha & Beta.

Household linen (sheets, pillowcases, quilts, blanquets hand towels and of course dish towels) is furnished once per week including and the upkeep of the pool.

Greetings: a small welcoming booklet on the run of the house is at your disposal on the console when you enter the house. Read it, it contains useful information for your stay.

Catering: a traditional restaurant, the «Taverna Mariou» is just a 100m away and several other good tables are nearby; you will find their cards and adress on the console mentionned above. We have tried them.

Animals: Pets (dogs between 7 & 10 kilos maximum) are authorized on the understanding that they are «well educated» and therefore respect the environment and the furniture and furnishings of the house.

Rent a car: On demand a car can wait for you at the airport. (cf. links)

Temperatures: Herewith a record of average monthly temperatures in the south of Crete —enough to make you dream… In April, you will find 26-28 degrees in the afternoon and in mid October the sea is still at 23 degrees.

From Heraklion
Itinerary for you to reach Mariou and your villa Alpha or Beta. It is one hour to Rethymnon and half an hour from the interchange of Rethymnon to Mariou. 1h30 relaxed driving.

Before reading in detail the itinerary, note: from Heraklion take the road to Rethymnon and 3 km before Rethymnon take the direction Spili, then Plakias and Mariou. It's very easy!

Roads are in very good condition having been recently modernized.

NB. Before leaving the airport, check your petrol level as the first petrol station is 35 km away
